In the coming 2017 assembly election, Pratapgarh will witness a keen contest among BSP, BJP and SP which currently holds the seat. In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP backed Apana Dal candidate from the Pratapgarh Lok Sabha constituency, Kunwar Harivansh Singh, had established a lead of 42327 votes over his nearest BSP rival Asif Nizamuddin Siddique in the Pratapgarh assembly segment.
